The charity fundraising event "Seed to Society"

20 May 2026

SOS Children’s Villages Laos is hosting a charity event dedicated to building a brighter future for orphaned, abandoned, and at-risk children who face the danger of losing parental care.

On May 20, 2026, SOS Children’s Villages Laos—under the guidance of the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare and the Project Management Committee of SOS Children’s Villages Laos—hosted a charity fundraising event to secure vital support for the upbringing and care of underprivileged children within the program.

The event was designated a high honor by the attendance of Madam Naly Sisoulith, First Lady of the Lao PDR and Honorary Chairperson of the Project Management Committee of SOS Children’s Villages Laos, alongside Mr. Phongxaysack Inthilath, Minister of Labour and Social Welfare and Chairman of the Project Management Committee of SOS Children’s Villages Laos. The ceremony was also well-attended by cabinet ministers, directors-general, directors, business leaders, and prominent entrepreneurs from the private sector.

This collective solidarity from all sectors serves as a vital force in driving forward our childcare mission at SOS Children’s Villages Laos. Having operated in the Lao PDR since 1993, we currently manage 6 villages across Vientiane Capital, Luang Prabang, Xieng Khouang, Houaphan/Sam Neua, Savannakhet, and Pakse. Together, these villages provide a warm, safe, and loving family-like environment for more than 700 children.

Furthermore, the organization implements several key initiatives, including the 'Skills for Work' Career and Future Building Project (2023–2026), the Youth Education Promotion Project (2021–2025)—funded by SOS Norway—and the Family Strengthening Project (2025–2027), which is currently active across three target districts in Vientiane Capital: Sangthong, Xaythany, and Naxaythong.

The purpose of this fundraising initiative is to secure financial support for the upbringing of the children within our programs. All proceeds from the event will be allocated directly to food, tuition, medical care, and essential living supplies, ensuring a higher standard of living and well-being for each child.

During the event, Mr. Phoxay Sayasone, Minister of Labour and Social Welfare and Chairman of the Project Management Committee of SOS Children’s Villages Laos, stated: "Children are the future and the most precious resource of our nation. If we nurture and care for them well today, they will grow into high-caliber citizens and become the primary driving force in the building and development of our country."

Additionally, the Chairman highlighted the crucial role of Corporate social responsibility and collaborative participation from all sectors serve to strengthen child protection frameworks. Such efforts safeguard the best interests of the child, adhering to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and the strategic policies of the Party and State regarding the protection of children’s rights and welfare within the Lao PDR.
