SOS Children’s Villages Laos is a non-profit development organization that provides care and support for orphaned, abandoned, and disadvantaged children, as well as those at risk of losing parental care, through the SOS Children’s Villages Laos program.
We support children in the Lao PDR who have lost parental care or are at risk of losing it by providing quality alternative care within SOS families or foster families that offer a family-like environment. We believe that every child belongs to a family and should grow up surrounded by love, respect, and security.
We encourage children to develop skills and talents based on their interests. We instill in children a warm family lifestyle with unity and mutual support within the family. We build and develop children to have a future, be self-reliant, have careers, and contribute to society.
In Laos, we have been working since 1993 under the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare. We have 6 SOS Children's Villages throughout the country, namely: Vientiane Capital, Pakse, Xieng Khouang, Luang Prabang, Xamneua, and Savannakhet. Additionally, we also have schools, a youth home for boys, and a youth home for girls.

Our Principles

Children
Every child is unique and deserves respect.
We recognize children's abilities, guide and help them move toward independent living and become good citizens who contribute to our society.

Caregivers
Every child needs stable care and caregivers.
We ensure that children receive and have trustworthy relationships with caregivers based on love, respect, and safety.

Families
Every child grows up in a family-supportive environment.
We encourage families to stay together. If children cannot grow up in their original families, we encourage them to build lasting bonds in alternative family environments. At the same time, we must ensure that their siblings live together.

Communities
Every child is part of a safe and mutually supportive community.
We help families connect with their communities, share experiences, help each other, and work together to create a good environment for children and young people to develop.
Support Channels
1. Help with operational costs
2. Help with children's health and education
3. Help with employment training and job placement for youth
