3 December 2025

The opening ceremony of the SOS Children’s Villages Laos Youth and Young Adult Camp was held on the afternoon of December 3, 2025, at Houana Secondary School, Xaythany District, Vientiane Capital. The ceremony was presided over by Mr. Sinnasone Nadonhai, National Director of SOS Children’s Villages Laos, and co-chaired by Mr. Sinlapakorn Phommasaysi, Chairman of the Xaythany District Administration Committee. The event was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare, relevant departments and offices, directors of SOS Children’s Villages and schools, local village authorities, organizing committees, as well as youth and young adults from all six SOS Children’s Villages across Laos.
The primary objective of this camp is to provide youth and young adults with an opportunity to learn about community living, exchange experiences, and strengthen their personal development. Importantly, the program serves as a critical preparation phase for young people before they transition out of the care of SOS Children's Villages into independent living. The camp features a diverse range of activities, including sessions on community lifestyles, social contribution through the painting of Houana Secondary School, and workshops on child rights, child safety, and children's responsibilities. Additional highlights include a campfire night, educational field trips, and various team-building exercises. These activities are scheduled to take place from December 3rd to 9th, 2025.

Additionally, each SOS Children’s Village contributed funds to provide essential equipment and supplies to Houana Secondary School. The donation included fans, building paint, steel, cement, roofing tiles, and a variety of sports equipment, with a total value of nearly 50 million Kip.
